Social Development
My first year as a Social Development Department volunteer
in NSS IIT Bombay was deeply enriching. From visiting
orphanages and old age homes to organizing cloth collection
drives and attending sign language workshops, every
experience left a lasting impact. These activities opened my
eyes to different realities and taught me the value of
empathy and active contribution. I learned to work closely
with communities and my peers, building teamwork and
communication skills. NSS gave me a meaningful platform to
serve society while growing personally.

Social Development
Being a NSS volunteer in social development vertical was one
of the most memorable parts of my freshie year, it was both
enriching and transformative. Various events that were
conducted, visits that we had to the old age home,
orphanages etc. helped me to feel that emotion of deep sense
of social responsibilities which were somewhere hidden
inside me. This experience not only enhanced my spirit of
team work and communication skills but also deepened my
empathy, working towards the inclusive environment and
understanding the grassroot challenges.

Educational Outreach
Being part of NSS was a great experience for me. I loved
spending time with underprivileged children, teaching them,
and organizing fun activities that made them really happy.
It felt amazing to see their smiles and know that I could
make a small difference in their day. Helping them explore
their creativity through different tasks was also very
fulfilling. Overall, it was a heartwarming experience that
taught me the value of giving back and connecting with
others.

Being a part of ALP in my 1st year was a fun and rewarding
experience. Teaching adults posses a unique challenge and
ALP is trying it's best to tackle this. I found it a great
way to directly engage with people who really need help,
understand their challenges and contribute to a cause. Our
ALP heads were also extremely supportive. Apart from this, I
also formed meaningful connections with other volunteers and
found myself a mini family in the institute. I thank NSS,
IIT Bombay for giving me this opportunity and I'm looking
forward to contribute ahead!

Being a part of NSS IIT bombay has been one of the most
meaningful experiences of my college life. It wasn’t just
about volunteering . It was about working with a team that
truly believed in creating real change. One of the
highlights for me was the field visit to Keshav Srushti,
which was an eye-opening and amazing experience. I also
really enjoyed being part of the cloth collection drive on
campus seeing everyone come together for a cause was
inspiring. NSS helped me grow, not just as a student, but as
a person. I'm truly grateful for the journey.

I think I contributed only 1% to society through NSS,
because being from a village, I’ve experienced the life of
poverty firsthand. I’ve traveled many times without
reservations on trains and buses for long journeys—it’s
really painful. I have seen people begging for food and
money, wearing torn clothes, and sleeping on the roads. I’ve
observed all of this at the ground level in my country. It
reminded me why service matters. Every activity brought back
memories, and every person I helped/cared felt deeply
connected to my own experiences. NSS didn’t just make me a
volunteer—it made me more aware, more grounded, and more
human.
