NOCS 01 and NOCS 02 are essential components of the academic curriculum for first-year students at the behest of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. These courses are scheduled during the initial year, with NOCS 01 taking place in the first (Autumn) semester and NOCS 02 in the second (Spring) semester of every academic year. It is mandatory for all undergraduate students at IIT Bombay to successfully complete both of these courses during their first year of study. The academic program mandates that students complete NOCS 01 and NOCS 02 in the first and second semesters of their freshman year, respectively. These courses provide students with three distinct choices, which are National Service Scheme (NSS), National Sports Organisation (NSO), and National Cadet Corps (NCC). To make their selection, students are required to complete a preference form, after which they will be assigned to one of these options based on the availability of positions within NSS, NSO, and NCC.
